What’s Happening Now?

  • Section 1 (Kilrush to Kilkee):  Current PC information

The project is currently in Phase 3: Design and Environmental Evaluation in line with the ‘Code of Best Practice for National and Regional Greenways’. This phase focuses on developing the preferred project design and assessing its environmental impacts in preparation for the statutory approval process. Public Consultation 3, which presented the Preferred Route Corridor, took place in March 2024. Since then, Clare County Council, in collaboration with scheme consultants ROD, has carefully considered the feedback received during PC3 and undertaken additional studies and evaluations of the proposed corridor. Engagement with individual landowners potentially affected by the scheme is ongoing throughout Phase 3. Every effort is being made to identify a route that delivers meaningful benefits to local communities while also supporting those who may be impacted.

These options are currently undergoing a detailed assessment in accordance with the TII Project Manager’s Manual for Greenway Projects, TII Project Appraisal Guidelines and the Department of Transport’s Transport Appraisal Framework.
